If it's 2009, it's time for a new Web site

Christmas arrived early this year. The new version of the Digital Media student-designed web site went live on Christmas eve. A new record. The speedy replacement was made possible by the clean design and implementation by the members of the "A-Team," Thomas Davis, Elizabeth Prophet, and Karen Keller. Well done, gang!

I also added an alumni feature designed by the Digifuntastic Team of Lainie Brillhart, John Spadafore, and Scott Covington. We'll continue to expand this page as we contact the many DMD alumni who have are working in their chosen field.

You've obviously noted that this year's design also features a blog for the news. I can tell you, it sure makes it easier to update! While you're outside our site, why not drop by another DMD blog: weboflearning.blogspot.com. DMD students in various classes comment on what education means and has meant to them. You're invited to join in the discussions.

I would also be remiss if I didn't note how many terrific designs were created by the Web II class for this final project. Here are a few of the designs that made it hard to choose a winner:

Exams

Well, it's exam week here!  This is a general announcement to anyone stressing - there is an all night-er Sunday night.  Come well rested in order to get extremely tired.

New Labs Now Open

Digital Media Design now occupies four labs, giving us five separate design spaces. In 2007 the DMD program added a third lab to the original two on the second floor of the restored Eastern Star Hotel in downtown Newark. In the fall of 2008 we added a fourth lab space on the first floor. That space is now being used for the expanded drawing lab and the new screen printing lab.

The expansion is the result of the continued growth of the program, including the addition of the Game Design Option in the fall of 2007 and the Web Design Option in the fall of 2008. The three extended campuses in Mt. Vernon, Coshocton, and Pataskala also now offer the Digital Media Design program. Additional expansion is planned for late spring of 2009.
